UPCOMING EVENTS AT DOUBLE 8 ALPACA RANCH
Double Alpaca Ranch is hosting a 4-hour Tri loom weaving class on Sunday, April 13, 12-4pm Click to register.
Triloom weaving is easy, fun, and fast!
As part of the experience, your hostess, Bonnie Kittrell, will treat you to a tour of her farm to meet the alpacas, show you the onsite cottage farm store, and serve refreshments. It's going to be a fiber filled afternoon with new creative friends that are sure to boost your inspiration. Although this workshop is geared towards alpaca owners as an idea for something to do with their yarn, everyone is welcome. This is a workshop for absolute beginners who are passionate and excited about fiber and yarn!
Guided by Roo Kline from Moonwood Farm, participants will use the 'continuous thread' method to weave a fabulous fringed shawlette on a 2.5 foot triangular loom. This method can be used on any size triloom. The yarn we'll be working with is produced from the Double 8 alpacas at a cottage industry mini mill.
Armed with this new skill, you can go home and weave beautiful shawls as gifts for loved ones, perhaps even with textured hand spun yarns or machine spun yarns from your own animals.
The looms for the workshop are hand crafted by Roo and her husband. Constructed from red oak and finished with a coat of tung oil, these looms retail in the Alpaca Fiber Solutions booth for $55. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to purchase the loom they worked on for the discounted price of $40 (cash, checks, credit cards or paypal).
Additional yarn will also be for sale.
Fee for class which includes all materials and refreshments is $75.
